Wilbert Piscoya

Wilbert Piscoya

Born in Lambayeque, Peru - His paintings are strongly symbolic, based on pre-Columbian painting traditions, but characterized by timeless dimensions.

Piscoya creates every piece, including the paper he paints on, from sand and dust.

Piscoya has represented Peru at several exhibitions throughout the world, including contemporary art competitions in Paris, Egypt, Bolivia and Canada. His work has been shown extensively in Peru and internationally, including United States, India, and Canada.

He graduated from Escuela Nacional Superior Autónoma de Bellas Artes del Perú (1989), where he also taught painting and visual courses. In the fall of 2007, he was a visiting Professor at the Ottawa School of Art.
